Michael's Testimony

Michael grew up the oldest of five in a Christian family. He accepted Christ at the age of seven, and began singing in churches at the age of eight. Since high school he knew that God's call upon his life was to music ministry. But like so many of us, he thought he knew best how to pursue this calling. After years of struggling to do things his way, in the year 2000 Michael was given what he calls a "blessing" from God to show him the error of his ways.

That April, Michael underwent surgery to repair an aneurysm in his brain. He believes that experience was God's way of getting his attention and telling him to try things His way for a change. As Michael says, "Well, it worked."

In the years following that life-changing experience, Michael and Joy moved to Fort Worth, Texas, for Michael to attend seminary, and have followed His leading to begin Michael Mays Music Ministries. They have seen His hand of blessing in many ways since that year, and Michael is grateful for the second chance God so graciously granted him.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."--Jeremiah 29:11-13, NIV
