Women on Mission
Women on Mission encompasses all aspects of the Women's Ministry at Sycamore. Our goal is threefold:
- To further the spread of the gospel at home and abroad;
- foster individual spiritual growth; and
- encourage Christian fellowship among the women of this body.
Missions
As the name "Women on Mission" suggests, one of our main emphases is reaching lost souls for Christ. On the third Wednesday of each month, we have a discussion on various missions efforts, followed by a relevant project or fundraising effort designed to support these ministries. In addition, we participate in several outreach projects throughout the year, including Operation Christmas Child, the Lottie Moon (Christmas) and Annie Armstrong (Easter) offerings, and the delivery of Thanksgiving food baskets to needy families.
Spiritual Growth
We have several opportunities available for women who would like to pursue a closer walk with God. Twice a year, we engage in 10- to 14-week Wednesday night Bible studies, and invite you to participate in these courses designed to enrich your Biblical knowledge and enhance your relationship with Jesus Christ. In addition, our Woman to Woman Mentoring Ministry links younger women in Christ to more mature, experienced believing women, with the goal of not only forging new friendships, but more importantly, developing in each woman a closer walk with God.
Fellowship
Throughout the year, our ladies have several opportunities to just "get together" for a good time with other Christian women in the church. Events include our theater night, Mother-Daughter Banquet, and a Christmas Progressive Dinner and Tour of Homes. Our Operation Christmas Child Shopping Trip is also a good time for both ministry and fellowship.
Another fun opportunity for fellowship and encouragement is our Secret Pals ministry. If you would like to experience the joy of giving and developing new friendships, this might just be the ministry for you!
In addition to these ministries, we have a program called Dishes of Love that provides meals to families with ill or hospitalized members. If you would like to be a part of this ministry, or if you or someone you know of is in need of this service, please be sure to call the church office at 886-4545 to let us know.
We enthusiastically invite you to come join Women on Mission and find out what we're all about. If you would like more information on any of these ministries, please contact the church office or Joy Mays at joymays@alltel.net. We trust that as you explore the available opportunities, you will find not only the encouragement you need in your Christian life, but also your place of service in this ministry.
