STATEMENT OF FAITH

There is a broad spectrum of beliefs from denomination to denomination, and even from church to church. Many of these distinctions are what give our respective bodies their character and focus for mission. The faith perspective of our ministry, based solely on Scripture and no mechanism of man, should be compatible with the vast majority of Bible-believing churches.

The Scriptures

We believe that the Bible, composed of the Old and New Testaments, is the verbally inspired and infallible Word of God, the supreme and final authority in faith and life (1 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Hebrews 1:1-2; Isaiah 40:8; Psalm 119:11, 105). Furthermore, we believe that God also promised to preserve His Word as taught in Psalm 12:6, 7; 119:89; Isaiah 40:8; Luke 21:33; 1 Peter 1:23

The Trinity

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons—Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Deut. 6:4; Eph. 4:6; Matt. 3:16-17; 2 Cor.13:14; 1 Peter 1:2)

Jesus Christ
We believe in the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, His conception by the Holy Spirit, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His true humanity, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death on the cross, His bodily resurrection, His ascension into heaven, His present intercession, and His personal and visible return in power and glory. (John 1:1,14; Matt. 1:18-20; Luke 1:35; 1 John 3:5; Col. 2:9; 1 Tim 3:16, 2:5: Acts 2:22-24; Mark 10:45; 1 Cor. 15:3-4; Gal.1:4; Heb.7:25; Titus 2:13-14; Acts 1:9-11; John 14:3)

Holy Spirit
We believe in the personality of the Holy Spirit, who is our Comforter, and in His ministry of revealing Christ, convicting of sin, regenerating, sanctifying and empowering for service. (1 Cor. 2:9; John 16:7-8, 13:14; Romans 8:2, 10-14; Acts 1:8)

Man
We believe that man was created in the image of God, that he sinned and thereby incurred spiritual death, and that all have sinned and come short of God’s glory. (Gen. 1:26-27, 2:17, 3:6; Rom. 3:23, 5:12, 6:23; Eph. 2:1-3)

Salvation
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures and that salvation from sin is received only by the grace of God through personal faith in Jesus Christ, and all who receive Him are justified on the basis of His shed blood, born of the Spirit, and thereby become children of God. (1 Cor. 15:3, 4; Eph. 2:8-9; Acts 4:12; John 1:12, 3:3, 5, 7, 12, 36: John 14:6; Romans 3:24-26, 10:9, 10

The Church
We believe that the Church is a spiritual organism, the Body of Christ and is composed of only regenerated, Scripturally baptized individuals whom God has brought together for worship, fellowship, service and the spread of the Gospel. The Scriptures teach that the Church is God’s "called out" people in a given locality. (Matt. 16:16-18; Acts 2:41-47, 8:14; Col. 1:18, 2:10; Eph. 1:22, 23; Heb. 10:25, 12:23; Acts 13:1, 14:27, 15:3; Rom. 16:5; 1 Cor. 1:2; Gal 1:2; Phil. 4:15, etc.)

Ordinances
We believe that baptism is the immersion of the believer in water, portraying death to sin and resurrection to newness of life, and that the Lord’s Supper is a commemoration of the Lord’s death until He comes. (Matt. 3:13-17; 26:26-29Acts 2:38, 8:29-39; Rom. 6:4; 1 Cor. 11:23-30)

The Great Commission
We believe that it is the responsibility of all believers to make known the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all men. (Eze. 3:18-19; Matt. 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-16; John 15:16; Rom. 10:13-15)

The Future
We believe in the immanent and physical return of Jesus Christ for His Bride, the Church. Following the period known as the Tribulation, Christ will return to set up a literal millennial kingdom (Luke 21:35, 36; John 14:2, 3; Acts 1:11; 1 Thess. 5:9; Titus 2:13-14; Rev. 2:27, 5:13). We believe in the resurrection of the saved to everlasting conscious blessedness with Christ, and in the resurrection of the lost to everlasting conscious punishment. (Matt. 25:41; John 5:28, 29; 1 Cor. 15:22-24, 51-54; Rev. 20:14-15, 21:4-8)
