Philosophy of Church Music

CONCLUSION

"The purpose of ministry is the glory of God."12 This is what worship is the pointing of people, both fellow believers and unbelievers alike, to God and to glorify his name. Music is a celebration of God's providence: in his creation, in salvation, and in his grace to call us into ministry to working alongside him. It serves the bride of Christ by elevating their view of their Spouse, and informs us how to worship him. It is a tool in worship and in church activity, having the capacity of properly orienting us with God and with each other.

But, of course, no worthy sacrifice is cheap; it requires investments of time and resource. It requires a correct view of ownership: everything is God's, and understanding this will make the development of better worship possible. Indeed, I believe God will honor the people who show faith and love in their sacrifices of praise to give them increased opportunities to worship and serve him. Worship is an attitude of gratitude.

And worship is proclamatory. It is directed at God, as it should be, but in overt worship ministries or by proxy in other service ministries, the ultimate message is the same: "To God be the glory, great things he hath done."
