What is "Salvation"?

We at Sycamore Baptist Church urge everyone to receive Jesus as their personal Savior! Jesus makes a true difference in our lives, both now and for all eternity. Each of us was created in the image of God. This gives us tremendous value to God, and He loves us--everyone. He has made a way for us to experience that love.

However, we have all sinned. We have all chosen to disobey God in our choices and our sin has built a barrier between us and God.

The good news is this: Jesus Christ died to remove the barrier that separates us from God! Sin against a Holy God demands punishment. Jesus took our punishment for us when He died on the cross. His sacrificial death paid the sin debt that we owed. We gain forgiveness when we receive Jesus Christ into our hearts by faith, whose shed blood has paid for the penalty of all our sins. God's Holy Spirit enters into us, and gives us true purpose and meaning in life now and a confident assurance that we will live in heaven forever.

READINGS FROM THE BIBLE

These are a few of the many verses in the Bible that explain the good news of salvation through Christ Jesus. If you have any questions, please contact us at Sycamore Baptist Church. We would be delighted to talk with you!

John 3:16

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life."

Romans 3:23

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."

Romans 5:8

"But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

Romans 6:23

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Romans 10: 9-10

9"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart, man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

Romans 10:13

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

SALVATION PRAYER

If you have felt God speaking to your heart through His Word, would you pray this prayer or in your own words:

"Dear God, I know I have sinned, and I do need your forgiveness. I do believe that you love me, and that you sent your son Jesus to die on the cross to pay for my sins. I ask for your forgiveness, and put my trust in Jesus, and right now ask Him to by my Savior. Thank you, God, for saving my soul, and by your help I will do my best to live for you."
